What Do We Believe?
It's important that our friends know the beliefs we hold as members of God's Kingdom and the community of believers at First Baptist Church of Spring Hill.
We believe that there is only One True God, and that Jesus Christ is the One and Only Son of God the Father.
We believe that the Bible contains the divinely-inspired word which is free from error and full of truth.
We believe that our only hope of eternal life rests in our faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe that in order to receive God's gift of salvation, Jesus Christ bore our sins and paid the penalty of those sins by being our atonement through the shedding of His blood and ultimate death.
We believe that God has a unique plan and purpose for each life and desires all to have a personal relationship with Him so that He might reveal His plan and purpose.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Head of His church and the members are all part of His body, that each member possesses unique gifts that are to be used in carrying out the will of the Father in fulfilling the mission of Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the ultimate and soon return of Jesus Christ and until that day, the church is to reach out to the lost, bringing them into God's family, teaching them to mature in their faith, leading them into ministry, and preparing them for this mission to be revealed by Christ.
We believe the Church is to be obedient to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.
How to Become a Member
Believing that Jesus Christ divinely designed the church to be part of His body of which He is the head, we invite others to join us in carrying out His will and purpose. A person may qualify for membership in the church in one of three ways:
1. By receiving Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior and following Him in believer's baptism which is by immersion.
1. Through the receipt of a letter of transfer from another Southern Baptist Church. (The request will be prepared and submitted by the First Baptist Church office.)
2. If coming from another church not of this denomination, by issuing a Statement of Faith that is in agreement with the doctrines and beliefs of First Baptist Church, Spring Hill.
While understanding that baptism is not essential for salvation, those who have not been immersed will be required to do so prior to membership. Further, all member candidates are to complete Class 101, New Member's Indoctrination, prior to formalizing membership.
Should there be questions regarding any of these conditions, please contact the Church Office and one of the Pastors and/or Deacons will be more than pleased to provide answers.
